Timeline and roadmap presentation templates

Slides for showing work over time: a timeline and roadmap deck organised by phase and quarter, with milestones, dependencies and what comes next, and a project kickoff deck for the start of a project.

Templates

  • Timeline / roadmap slides (presentation): Show a project timeline or product roadmap by phase and quarter, with milestones, dependencies and what is next, in 8 slides. Sample roadmap included.
  • Project kickoff (presentation): Start a project with everyone aligned: why it matters, goals, scope, a phased timeline, who does what, risks and how the team will work. 10 slides with a sample project.

How to use these templates

  1. Open the timeline deck and list your phases or quarters with their main milestones.
  2. Tell the AI which items depend on others and which dates are fixed, and it orders the slides to match.
  3. Ask for a different view if you need one, such as "turn this into a now, next, later roadmap".
  4. Download as PowerPoint and update the deck as milestones are hit.

Making a timeline slide easy to read

  • Use the same time unit on every slide: weeks for a project, quarters for a product roadmap, years for a company history.
  • Mark milestones, not every task. Five to seven points per slide is the most an audience can follow.
  • Show dependencies explicitly, such as "launch depends on security review". They are what stakeholders most need to know.
  • For external or customer-facing roadmaps, use broad windows like "first half of 2027" instead of exact dates you might miss.
  • Highlight where you are today so the audience can see what is done and what is next at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a timeline and a roadmap?

A timeline shows events or tasks against dates, often for a project or history. A roadmap shows planned outcomes over time, usually by quarter, and is expected to change as plans change.

Can I make a Gantt chart with this template?

The deck shows phases and milestones as slides rather than a Gantt chart. For detailed task scheduling, use a project tool and put a simplified view in the deck.

Can I use it for a history project timeline?

Yes. Ask the AI to "make this a timeline of [topic] from [year] to [year]" and it will replace the phases with dated events.
