Free Word templates

Document templates for work, school and home: resumes and cover letters, formal letters, invoices and receipts, proposals, reports, meeting agendas and minutes, agreements and invitations. Open one, tell the AI what it is for, such as "a resignation letter with one month’s notice" or "an invoice for three days of design work", and it rewrites the sample for you. Then download a real .docx that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice, or a PDF ready to send.

How to use these templates

  1. Pick the document you need. Search above or browse by category: careers, HR and letters, business, education, legal and personal.
  2. Click "Use this template" to open it in the editor, with headings, lists and tables already laid out the way Word lays them out.
  3. Describe your details in plain words and let the AI fill them in, or click into the page and type. The toolbar has the Word basics: styles, bold, lists, alignment, links and tables.
  4. Download as Word (.docx) to keep editing in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, or as PDF to email, upload or print.

Getting a polished Word document

  • Use the built-in heading styles rather than bold text for section titles. Word builds its navigation pane and table of contents from them, and screen readers rely on them too.
  • Keep fonts to one or two. The templates use a clean sans-serif for body text so they read well on screen and print evenly.
  • Replace the sample names, dates and numbers, and any placeholder in [brackets], before sending. A quick search for "[" finds brackets you missed.
  • For anything someone will sign, such as an offer letter, a rent agreement or an NDA, send the PDF so the layout cannot shift, and keep the .docx for your own edits.
  • In Google Docs, choose File, then Open, then Upload, and pick the .docx. Headings, lists and tables carry over.
