Simple resume templates

Plain, classic resumes with nothing to get in the way: your name, a short summary, experience in reverse order, education and skills. A simple layout suits almost any job and is the easiest to keep updated.

Templates

  • Resume (document): A clean one-page resume with summary, highlights, experience, education and skill tags, ready to tailor to any job. Sample resume included.
  • ATS-friendly resume (document): A one-page resume built to pass applicant tracking systems: single column, standard section headings, plain bullets and a keyword-rich skills line that ATS software reads correctly. Use it for any online job application.

How to use these templates

  1. Open the classic resume, or the ATS-friendly one if you will apply online.
  2. Write a few lines about your work history, or paste an old resume, and let the AI fill in the sections.
  3. Read it top to bottom and delete anything that is not about the job you want.
  4. Download as Word to keep a master copy, and as PDF to send.

Keeping a simple resume sharp

  • Reverse chronological order, newest job first, is what readers expect and what parsers handle best.
  • Pick one readable font, such as Calibri, Arial, Georgia or Garamond, and use it everywhere. Change size and weight for headings, not the typeface.
  • Line everything up on the left. Centred job titles and right-aligned dates look tidy but are harder to scan.
  • Simple does not mean vague. "Answered customer emails" becomes "Answered 60 customer emails a day with a 95% satisfaction score".

Frequently asked questions

Is a simple resume better than a designed one?

For most applications, yes. It parses reliably, prints well and lets your results stand out. Designed resumes help mainly in creative fields and when a person reads it first.

What sections does a simple resume need?

Contact details, a short summary, experience, education and skills. Add certifications, languages or volunteering only if they matter for the job.

Can I make a simple resume on my phone?

Yes. Open this page in your phone browser, use a template, type or dictate your details and download the PDF, with no app to install.
